THURSDAY, December 19th - Embassy Suites to Kate's Kitchen - 9:00 AM Start

It may be a little cool at the start (36 degrees is forecast) and a little windy (tail wind to start) but I just mapped this 25 mile route to Kate's Kitchen to get up back out there - 16 miles there, 11 back.

See you there.

THURSDAY, Decermber 12th - Still too cold to ride - Hy Vee for Breakfast at 9:00 AM

The 12th still looks too cold for a ride (to me).

Let's meet at Hy Vee  (Barry Rd and St Clair Ave) again at 9:00AM.

THURSDAY, December 5th - No Ride - Breakfast at Hy Vee 9:00AM

The 5th looks too cold for a ride (to me).

The extended forecast I'm looking at has warmer weather returning for much of the next couple weeks so I hope we go next week.

In the mean time lets meet for breakfast as we frequently do at Hy Vee  (Barry Rd and St Clair Ave) at 9:00AM

THURSDAY, November 21 - I think no ride due to windy cold conditions at start time

In spite of the forecast full sunshine I am going to scratch the ride this week.  Lets do breakfast at the Hy Vee at 9:00 AM.  You might want to get out later in the day but the increasing winds could be a deterrent for me.

The extended forecasts show cooler temps but winds moderate somewhat.  I better look over my winter-wear and get ready for temps like these.  350 miles to go for 1 billion centimeters!

PRELIMINARY : THURSDAY, November 14 - Embassy Suites to Riverside - 9:00 AM Start

BELOW IS A PROBABLE ROUTE - FINAL PLANS WILL BE POSTED AS 11-14 APPROACHES

I have planned the route linked here and shown below:

This is a 19 mile route out and a 16 mile return for 35 miles total.  GARMIN COURSE

Again perhaps a cool start but full sunshine predicted and nicely warming as we travel.

THURSDAY, November 7 - Embassy Suites to Platte City - Start time 9:00 AM

I thought I would be out this week but plans changes so I will be able to lead a ride.

This week I plan a to ride to Platte City (Roxanne's).  This route is 19 miles there and 16 miles back for a total of 35 miles.

Looks a little cool at the start - but sunshine.

THURSDAY, October 31st - Embassy Suites to Liberty (Corner Cafe) - 9:00 AM Start

My route this week has us traveling somewhat familiar territory to the Corner Cafe in Liberty - 17 miles each way for a 34 mile route.  We will start at 9 with cool temps but a tailwind.  The wind is forecast to diminish to nearly 10 mph for our trip home.  What do you say?

I'll give this a try:  The Garmin Course Here.

THURSDAY, October 24th - Embassy Suites to NKC (1st Watch) - 9:00 AM Start

I have plotted this route to NKC for this week's ride.  The route measures 14.8 miles to 1st Watch and 19.2 miles back for 34 miles total.

A cool start and a tailwind for the return.

THURSDAY, October 17th - Embassy Suites to Kate's Kitchen - 9:00 AM START

I'm moving the start time to 9:00 AM because of cooler temperatures (and some cooling wind).  I have created a meandering route taking 16.8 miles to get to our brunch stop at Kate's Kitchen and another 15.7 miles to return to Embassy Suites for a total of 32.5 miles.

THURSDAY, October 10th - Embassy Suites to Smithville - 8:30 Start

BELOW IS AN POST FROM EARLIER THIS YEAR

WHICH WAS A POST FROM SOME TIME AGO.

I'M RECYCLING (PARDON THE PUN).

BONUS - Kelly and Ann are in town and plan to ride with us.

I have this old route picked out for Thursday - it looks like about 21 miles up to Smithville with a stop at the Hwy 169 Cafe and 14 miles back for approximately 35 miles total.  There will me a mild headwind for the return - a cooling feature for your riding pleasure.

THE WEATHER IS CURRENT THOUGH

THURSDAY, October 3rd - Embassy Suites to Dearborn - 8:30 Start

I'm planning a ride to Dearborn (Dearborn Cafe) for this week's route.  This plots as (roughly) 20 miles up and 22 back for 42 miles total. A straight back option is possible for a little under 40 miles if you'd like.  Breakfast closes at 10:30  -  we should make it with a slight tailwind up there (otherwise - lunch).  A little headwind returning but not severe.

THURSDAY, Sept 26 - Embassy Suites to Scott's Kitchen - 8:30 Start

Note - I've moved the start to 8:30 this week.  When DST goes off I may go back to 8:00 if it looks like daylight is sufficiently extended.  Eventually we will move to 9 and maybe even later for lunch rides.

This week I have a meandering ride to Scott's Kitchen  Hanger 29 via a 20 mile route.  The return meanders for another 13 miles back (33 total - I've been practicing my arithmetic) to GO.

THURSDAY, Sept 19 - HY VEE - 9:00 AM for breakfast - Ride Cancelled

CHANGE START TIME TO 9:00 am

HY VEE (Ride Cancelled)

There is a concerning forecast for rain Thursday:

For that reason I am keeping the ride in the vicinity of Embassy Suites.  If rain interrupts us we will meet at Hy Vee for breakfast at 9:00.

The route I have mapped is a 32 mile figure 8 route around Weatherby Lake and up to Martin Road at Skyview.  Breakfast could be at Scott's Hangar at Cookingham and Ambassador (with a little adjustment to the map).

I'll be making announcements Thursday morning concerning updated weather forecasts and possible changes to plans.  Stay Tuned.

THURSDAY, Sept 12th - Embassy Suites to Liberty - 8:00 AM Start

I have us riding to Ginger Sue's just off the square in downtown Liberty.  This route maps to be 17.6 miles there and 21 back for a total of 38.6 miles.

Cool start.  We get a little help coming back.

See you there!

Wednesday, September 4, 2024

THURSDAY, September 5th - Embassy Suites to Smithville - 8:00 AM Start

This is the route I've planned for Thursday - 18+ miles to The HWY 169 Cafe in Smithville and 12+ miles back for nearly 31 total.

I put the loop across the dam before breakfast.

Wednesday, August 28, 2024

THURSDAY, August 29th - Embassy Suites to Riverside - 8:00 AM Start

I've been trying to map out interesting routes with shade at about 30 miles in this heat (even though the mornings aren't too bad).  This route is adequate but I may tweak it beyond recognition before Thursday morning.  This one is about 13.5 miles out and 15 miles back for a total over 28 miles.  It uses much of the Line Creek Trail again and breakfast again at the Corner in Riverside.

Wednesday, August 21, 2024

THURSDAY, August 22nd - Embassy Suites to First Wartch in NKC - 8:00 AM Start

I have us travelling to NKC via this route:

Map My Ride measures this to be 18 - miles there and 14 + miles back so a little over 32 miles according to that mapping.  It usually comes out a little less in actuality.

Weather looks nice - see you there.

Wednesday, August 14, 2024

THURSDAY, August 15th - Embassy Suites to Platte City - 8:00 AM Start

OK - I've come up with this route. It's got quite a few hills. 14.5 miles there and about 17.5 miles back for a total of 32 miles.  Breakfast at Roxanne's.

Weather looks pretty good:

Wednesday, August 7, 2024

THURSDAY, August 8 - Cancelled due to rain

RAIN OUT  -  BREAKFAST AT HY VEE AT 8:00 am instead.

We'll try this again another time:

This is the route I've planned for Thursday - 18+ miles to The HWY 169 Cafe in Smithville and 12+ miles back for nearly 31 total.

I put the loop across the dam before breakfast.

Wednesday, July 31, 2024

THURSDAY, August 1st - Embassy Suites to Riverside around and back - 8:00 AM Start

Here is the route I came up with. It's about 14 miles to Riverside; 17 miles to the Price Rite Market; and 25.5 miles total completing the loop back to Embassy Suites.  We can decide as a group if we want to stop en route or maybe at the end.  We could make a break at Price Rite if we skip the usual breakfast stop.

THURSDAY, July 25th - Embassy Suites to Haye's Hamburgers - 8:00AM Start

Haye's burgers are so good I may have to have one for breakfast.  PLEASE REMEMBER - HAYE'S IS CASH ONLY.

I'm anticipating a smaller group since quite a few of us are on RAGBRAI (and more power to you).  We may be able to make Haye's work again.  If we have too many we might have to re-route our intentions.

Here are the usual deets:

Route is here:

Wednesday, July 17, 2024

THURSDAY, July 18 - Embassy Suites to Riverside (via Parkville) - 8:00 AM Start

This week the route takes us to the Corner Cafe in Riverside via the Old Parkville (using English Landing Trail for a little bit and a small section of HWY 9).  It's about 15 miles there and 17 back for a 32 miler.  I've tried to add in a few different things on the route - going through Riss Lake (not actually the lake but the residential streets), Coventry to 76th to Platte Purchase approaching Barry Rd from the south, etc.

See you there.

Wednesday, July 10, 2024

THURSDAY, July 11- Embassy Suites to Liberty - 8:00 AM Start

I have a ride to Ginger Sue's in Liberty this week.  This route is 17.7 miles out and 23.3 miles back for 41 miles total.  The weather looks good; getting a little warm with a mild tailwind on the return.

Friday July 5: Embassy Suites to Dearborn - 8:00 AM Start

 FRIDAY RIDE

We had a small group gather for breakfast on the 4th for a Hy Vee breakfast.  Most of the world's problems were solved there making Friday's gathering a much more relaxed endeavor.   Friday looks to be dry and somewhat cool an a little windier.  I picked (with some input from the breakfast attendees) Dearborn as our destination for Friday.  The idea is to get to Dearborn before the wind picks up then sail back with a nice tailwind.  Hope to see you there. It's a little under 20 miles each way.

Again thanks to Bob for taking the reins last week.
